What Vectorize does
From raster to vector: here's what happens
Vectorize takes a PNG or raster image, converts it into mathematical vector paths, and outputs a clean SVG file. Those vectors scale infinitely without pixelation, making them ideal for screen printing, vinyl cutting, laser engraving, embroidery, signage, and Cricut workflows.
Why vectors matter
- Screen printing: crisp separations
- Vinyl cutting: clean edges
- Laser/CNC: precise cutting
- Embroidery: machine-readable files
- Signage: scales to any size
What you get
- Transparent backgrounds (by default)
- SVG format (universal, editable anywhere)
- Clean, optimized paths
- Preserved detail from the original artwork
Output preview
Layer-aware SVG
Organized layers and groups so each color separation exports cleanly.
Tolerance control
Dial in tolerance per color to keep brand palettes intact.
Color remapping
Swap stray shades with approved brand colors before finalizing.
Advanced Mode
Advanced Mode: Full control over your vector conversion
Standard Vectorize is one click. Advanced Mode lets you preview, adjust, and refine before you commit tokens. More power. More control. Run a low-cost preview, dial in colors, shapes, and output structure, then finalize once it looks perfect.
Step 1: Preview first (low cost)
Generate a watermarked preview so you can see the conversion before you spend tokens. Previews stay available for 24 hours so you can refine later.
Step 2: Color management
Auto-detect palette, edit or add your own hex values, and cap the palette at 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, or unlimited colors. Adjust tolerance on every color for precise matching or subtle grouping.
Step 3: Shape and detail controls
Ignore dust by setting a minimum shape area, use gap filler to close micro breaks, choose stroke vs. fill, group shapes by color or proximity, and even flatten circles or rectangles into curves if you prefer.
Step 4: Output structure
Choose a stroke-heavy SVG or fill-based output so downstream production stays clean. Some designs weed better with filled shapes; others plot faster with strokes. Advanced Mode lets you pick.
Color management controls
- Auto-detect artwork colors and edit hex values manually.
- Set max colors: 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, or unlimited for complex gradients.
- Tolerance sliders per color keep tight matches or intentionally group hues.
Example: simplify a 47-color logo into 8 brand colors with one slider.
Tight tolerance keeps Pantone-matched fills untouched.
Loose tolerance groups similar colors together for faster cutting.
Shape + detail options
- Minimum shape area ignores tiny specs so cutters move faster.
- Gap filler removes micro breaks and keeps outlines closed.
- Draw style toggles stroke vs. fill and grouping by color or proximity.
- Flatten circles or rectangles into curves if your cutter prefers path consistency.
Visual walkthrough
Step 1
Upload a raster logo and pin key colors for detection.
Step 2
Generate a preview (watermarked) before spending tokens.
Step 3
Adjust the color count slider, tolerance, and gap filler live.
Step 4
Export the final SVG and drop it into Illustrator, Cricut, or your RIP.
Use cases
Built for actual production work
Screen printing separations
Vectorize simplifies complex raster logos to spot colors, outputting layers per color so separations hit press-ready faster.
Vinyl cutting
Cut-ready files with transparency included. Export, load into your cutter, and go from approval to production without redraws.
Laser engraving and CNC
Precision vector paths that drive engraving, routing, or scoring equipment. No jagged bitmap edges.
Large format signage
Scale designs to storefronts or buses. SVG output stays razor sharp no matter the size.

Common questions
Can I vectorize a photo or complex image?
Vectorize is built for logos, line art, and shapes with clear edges. It can vectorize photos, but those files become dense. For gradients or photorealism, keep PNG.
How many colors can the output have?
You choose. Limit colors anywhere from 2 to 256 or go unlimited. Fewer colors mean simpler files and faster cutting; 8–16 colors is the sweet spot for screen printing.
Will it preserve all the detail?
It depends on the original. Simple logos render perfectly. Detailed illustrations can be simplified, but tolerance and minimum shape area give you control over how much detail stays.
Can I edit the SVG after I download it?
Yes. Open the SVG in Illustrator, Inkscape, CorelDRAW, or any vector-friendly tool. SVG is universal and editable.
What if the outline doesn't look perfect?
Advanced Mode lets you tweak tolerance, gap filler, and shape area settings. Iterate in preview mode until the outline is dialed.

FAQ
Need details? We've got answers.
What format is the output?
SVG. Load it into any vector software or send it directly to vinyl cutters, lasers, or RIP software.
Can I batch vectorize multiple files?
Not yet. Vectorize runs one file at a time, but processing takes about 30 seconds per design.
Do I lose the transparent background?
No. Transparency is preserved automatically so you can place the SVG on any background.
What happens if the image is very small or very complex?
Small images vectorize fine. Extremely detailed art can turn into dense SVGs, so use Advanced Mode to simplify colors and shapes before exporting.
